Pollyanna McIntosh
Pollyanna McIntosh was raised in
Portugal and Colombia before returning to her hometown of Scotland and where
she initially began to perform on stage on stage, at The Edinburgh Festival.
After 16 she relocated to London where she started working in independent
filmmaking. (Her first pay-per-view in The Acid House was as a stoner in the
film Irvine Welsh (1998)). Also, she's been involved in theatre, both as an
actor as well as a director. The move to Los Angeles in 2004 led to more stage
work. She directed Anne Dudek (a regular star on Mad Men/Big Love (2006)) as
well as David Dayan Fisher (a regular part on 24 (2001/NCIS 2003)) to great
reviews. Her first US film role was "Stacy" as the manipulative and
reborn Christian as seen in Headspace (2005). It was as the wild "Thumper
Wint" in the comedy Sex and Death 101 (2007) (Simon Baker/Winona Ryder)
written by Heathers (1988) author Daniel Waters, that the critics started to
become aware of her talent, citing her unique mix of powerful sexuality and
hilarious humor. Exam (2009) the film, which was shot in London and LA and was
her subsequent film. It was nominated for Outstanding British Debut by the
BAFTA and was awarded the Santa Barbara Film Festival's Best Independent Award.
The film's critics praised Pollyanna's ability to "emotionally
vulnerability" her strong, confident character. GQ has stated that
Pollyanna McIntosh is a great actor, is "extremely skilled". Como
Quien No Quiere La Cosa (2013) (As if you Don't Like it! ) is a South American
comedy in which she plays the angry wife of Trevor Lock, a Brit comedian. She
is fluent in Spanish throughout the film, which was shot in Peru. In Burke and
Hare (2010) directed by John Landis, she plays Isla Fisher's best friend along
with Simon Pegg, Andy Serkis, Jessica Hynes, Tom Wilkinson and Tim Curry. Lucky
McKee's The Woman (2011) was an enormous success. It received rave reviews and
topped New York Times readers' top films poll. She was honored with three Best
Actress Awards, including Total Film's Frightfest Award, and Fright Meter's.
