Bonnie Wright

Bonnie Francesca Wright, born 17 February 1991 is an English actress. She is also a director, model, activist, and actress. Her most famous role is the role of Ginny Weasley, the Harry Potter film series's main character. Born in London, Wright portrayed the character for ten years until she was finally named as the character in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part II (2011). Wright was in a variety of independent films like Before I Sleep (2013) and The Sea (2013). The films were met with mixed reviews. In 2013 she made her stage debut with Peter Ustinov's The Moment of Truth at the Southwark Playhouse. She also received a bachelor’s degree in filmmaking from University of the Arts London. In 2012, Wright established BonBonLumiere and began making short films. Her first film as a director was the coming-of-age-drama Separate We Come, Separate We Go (2012) featuring David Thewlis, which was released at the Cannes Film Festival to critical acclaim. She directed Know Thyself (2016), with Christian Coulson, and Sextant (2016), both of which used landscapes and emotion as the main themes. Wright's three-part series, Phone Calls, premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival in 2017. The film was released in Medusa's Ankles (2018) which starred Kerry Fox and Jason Isaacs, based on A. S. Byatt's The Matisse Stories. She has also produced music videos for singers Sophie Lowe, Pete Yorn as well as Scarlett Johansson. Wright is an ambassador of Greenpeace, Lumos and has been recognized for her environmental activism.
